Having just joined, I've gone looking for new groups to join, which is why anybody would be here, right? I go to a twibe that looks promising, but find no link for joining. What I see is some vague notice that I should "Send a tweet to join" Send what tweet to join? What do I put in the message? Your site doesn't seem to tell me this, and when I go looking for a FAQ, I don't find one. I guess I could play around with Google, and see what other people have said about how one makes your site work, but I don't have the time to do that, and I shouldn't have to make the time to do that. Nobody should. When you fail to document your own system, that's on you. Picture how many man hours are going to be wasted by how many users, if the users are willing to do that part of your job for you, Mr. Loving, and compare it to how many hours it would take you to simply write the FAQ, like those owning every other web service I've ever seen have already done, without exception. Does this seem like an efficient use of effort, or a reasonable one? Get your head into the game. I'll be removing Twibe's access to my Twitter account after I post this, because as far as I'm concerned, Twibe has been nothing but a waste of my time up to this point, and pardon the bluntness, but the Web isn't really about to run low on social networking sites. If you don't care enough about us as users to make our lives at least reasonably easy, then I'll find somebody who does, and I'll find him quickly. Respond to this as you wish.

Count the number of possible twibe names, and compare them to the number of users. Are you in any danger of running out, any time soon? Aside from appeasing the usual mouthy spoiled brats who want what they want when they want it - the kind of people who would want somebody else's blog wiped out on another service because they want to take the other's users id, and use it themselves - and antagonizing the kind of user who is going to produce the kind of content that people actually want to read, what exactly would you be accomplishing by doing this?

And I notice that you didn't even wait for so much as a single user to say "I like this idea" before deciding to act on it. I guess you just don't put much value on your users. Good to know that this is that kind of service.

I'll be sure to pass word of this around, far and wide. Your failure to show your users so much as the least amount of respect opens an opportunity for somebody else to move in and fill the niche that Twibes has been occupying, up until now. I'm sure that it is an opportunity that somebody will be glad to move on, given the current state of the IT job market.

Oh, and thank you for telling me about this before I linked to my Twibes profile, something that I obviously shouldn't be doing, if you're this determined to destroy your own service, just to feed your own ego. I've been on that kind of ride, before. I don't need to bring my visitors with, just to enjoy an experience like that.

On the 'browse twibes twitter goups' menu you can choose from whichever type of group you want to join, this part of the site it set out great. But when you click the 'show more' button below it simply shows up a huge list of twibes. The list is alphabetical as present which is great but a couple of other options could help too. A popularity button would work - Twibes with more members at the top leading down to fewer members at the bottom. Or a date button - Listing Twibes in order of the date they were created. There could be more ideas but these were the few I thought of.

While my confusion would seem to have been eliminated, my point remains. Twibes is using the word "tweet" to mean something that it doesn't mean anywhere else. Properly speaking, if one isn't posting from Twitter, it's not a tweet. If you want people to post using the shoutboxes on the groups that they wish to join, then you should tell them to do that.

You could have "post to the group". That would have worked. But if you're going to misuse the language, how are we supposed to know what you mean?

Right now on Twitter if I include a web address that starts with "www." in the Tweet, Twitter makes it be a clickable hyperlink in the Tweet. But when it shows on Twibes, the address is not a clickable hyperlink. Seems only things that start with http:// are clickable links on Twibes. Frequently I can save 7 characters in a web address by omitting the http://. I would like to see Twibes make addresses starting with www be links.
